Care of your cabinets

Cabinetry is an investment—and with a little care, yours will look beautiful and perform well for years to come. Our cabinets are built from quality materials and crafted to handle everyday life. To keep them looking their best, a few simple care routines go a long way.

Wood is a natural product, which means no two cabinets are exactly alike. Variation in grain, tone, and texture is part of what makes wood cabinetry so special. Like anything natural, wood will shift slightly over time—subtle changes in light, temperature, and humidity are normal. With proper care, your cabinetry will continue to age gracefully and serve your home beautifully.

Care tips:

DOs for Long-Lasting Cabinets

  • Dust often using a lint-free cloth, and always in the direction of the grain.
  • Clean gently using mild soap or detergent and a slightly damp cloth—never apply water directly.
  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning, especially around hardware and joints.
  • Use coasters or felt pads under hot items, and avoid placing heat-producing appliances beneath upper cabinets.
  • Keep areas around sinks and dishwashers dry to prevent moisture damage.
  • Use towel bars instead of draping wet cloths over cabinet doors.
  • Store reasonable weight—never exceed 15 lbs per square foot on shelving.
  • Maintain a stable indoor environment, ideally between 20–23°C and 40–45% humidity.

What to Avoid

  • Abrasive pads, scouring powders, and harsh chemical cleaners
  • Silicone-based polishes, waxes, or sprays
  • Standing water, especially near joints and edges. Be careful not to use excessive water when mopping around the bases of your cabinets.
  • Heat or steam directly under cabinets (coffee makers, kettles, toaster ovens)
  • Self-cleaning oven cycles without removing nearby cabinet doors and drawers

It’s best not to. Small appliances that release heat or steam can damage cabinetry over time. Try to use them in open areas, away from upper cabinets whenever possible.

Yes. Wood is a natural material and can change subtly with exposure to light and air over time. This is part of the beauty of real wood and not considered a defect.
