5 Ways To Update Your Kitchen

This week on the blog we are exploring ways to update and refresh your kitchen. A full kitchen reno is a major project and takes time and planning, but that’s not to say that you can’t make some small improvements to refresh your space while you plan and save for  your big project! Here are 5 easy ways to update your kitchen:

1. Open Shelves

Find some space beside a window, or end of a run of cabinets, maybe even the backside of an island and install some shelving. Open shelving is modern and practical. Display those new beautiful dishware and glassware, add some storage.

2. Lighting

Whenever you are looking to update any space let lighting lead the way. Changing bulbs from warm yellow to bright white or vice versa can have drastic effects. Maybe go ultra modern with LED RBG color changing bulbs.  Adding under cabinet lighting can be simple, cost effective, and make an actual difference in working conditions. Going big and changing the style from old to more modern, or minimal to classical. The options to lighting you will find to be endless.

3. Paint

Paint is easy come easy go. If you don’t like it, paint it. If you want to cover up some marks, or take the mood of a room in a completely different direction, paint it. Whether you do it yourself or hire someone, there is an entire spectrum to choose from.

4. Tile

Oftentimes this goes hand in hand with painting, but you can do it as stand alone as well. There are even tile stickers nowadays that allow you to just sticker over the current tile. However you do it, like everything in this list, there is a large selection. Size, color, texture, price, craftsmanship all are things you can choose from.

5. Hardware / Cabinet Pulls

If you like planning a head, pro tip here, you could actually change your handles now and plan to use them on the next kitchen if you love them that much. You may have a different number of handles needed but if you’re going to do a renovation you could start now. Things to look out for are going to be handle width, and handle hole pattern/width. Things can change depending on door style as well so those are somethings to watch out for. Again lots of choices and can flip a kitchen style on its head all depending on handles.
